Add Space is a project created to bring artworks to public spaces traditionally used for advertising in Tulsa, OK. The seventh iteration of this project will feature works by artist Rose Marcus on billboard spaces throughout downtown Tulsa.

Billboards deliver directly, proffer solutions, fast. Make that call, get that thing. Unlike other ads, billboards are freestanding, untethered from context except life itself. There is no magazine, no building, no mail, no mall, no train. Billboards remain architecturally unmediated, floating cheap hieroglyphs. Ride past them, the only pause taken is in a parking lot. A stock image or a phrase baits with a hissing hook on the margins. Insert haiku. Insert life. The phone line ringing, you make the wrong turn. After the page refreshed an error occurs and you hear someone else’s voice, get rerouted, far away, the phone falls on the floor, the mouse and road disappear, the joke smacks.
